How to Make DIY Mason Jar Pen Holders for Your Desk

How to make your DIY mason jar pen holders:

  1. Give each of the mason jars you are going to be using one coat of paint. Then let them dry. I had ended up putting them on a paper towel to dry, I would not recommend this because the paper towels got stuck to the bottom once the paint dried. I would recommend instead putting them on a paper plate or some scrap wood.
  2. Once the mason jars are dry give them another coat with the same color. Let them dry.
  3. Now give them all one more coat of paint. For this coat of paint I dabbed the paint on because when I tried swiping the paint on, it started peeling the previous coats off. I thought the technique of dabbing would leave the dried paint with bubbles in it but that did not end up happening.
  4. Once the mason jars are dry for a final time they should be ready to be placed on your desk and be a new, organized and more colorful way of holding your pens!

The above picture helps illustrate the difference each coat makes.

When painting the mason jars after each of the first two coats I was very skeptical that it was going to turn out the way I had wanted because of how much paint seemed to be missing from the jars. But nonetheless it turned out to work perfectly with just the three coats!
